New Delhi, 23 February 2025 – On 22 February 2025, the Russian House in New Delhi hosted a creative gathering in honour of Defender of the Fatherland Day, celebrating the bravery and sacrifices of those who serve and protect. The event, attended by a diverse audience, underscored the enduring cultural and historical ties between Russia and India.
The event featured the participation of Roman Babushkin, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in India, who addressed attendees with reflections on the importance of preserving historical memory and honouring the contributions of past and present heroes.

Photo Exhibition “We Accuse”: Curated by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik, with contributions from TASS and RIA Novosti correspondents, the exhibition shed light on the atrocities committed by the Kiev regime.
Indian Art Showcase: The event also displayed evocative sketches by Indian artist Nishant Kumar Meena, reflecting the artistic collaboration between the two nations.
Student Performances: Indian students recited Russian poems on military and patriotic themes, while a musical performance by students from the Russian Embassy’s school added a harmonious touch to the evening.
Documentary Screening: Guests viewed “Volunteers for Victory”, a compelling documentary by RT Doc TV channel.
Commemorating History and Strengthening Relations
In his address, Roman Babushkin emphasised the significance of honouring the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, celebrated alongside the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in 2025. He linked these commemorations to Russia’s present values and its ongoing objectives, highlighting the importance of passing historical memory to future generations.
Mr Babushkin also reflected on the 25th anniversary of the Russian-Indian strategic partnership, underscoring the strength of bilateral relations built on principles of sovereign equality and mutual respect established after the Second World War.
