Ethiopian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Rashid Mohammed Abdulwahid voiced Ethiopia’s commitment to collaborating in this endeavour, citing his country’s Green Legacy Initiative initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, which aims to plant 20 billion trees in five years. Ethiopia has already achieved 615 million trees planted in a single day this year. This is reported by The Herald, a partner of TV BRICS.
On the road safety front, Zimbabwean First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, partnering with the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, has been at the forefront of public safety campaigns. Zimbabwean First Lady also introduced the ambassador to Zimbabwe’s “clay coating broadcasting seed balls” method, a technique where seeds are scattered across the land with a clay coating to protect them until rainfall enables germination. This innovative approach complements traditional tree-planting, reinforcing sustainable reforestation practices across the country.
Plans are underway to hold a roundtable meeting between the Ethiopian Embassy, Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Transport, solidifying a concrete action plan on tree planting and road safety.
