In the year of Russia’s chairmanship of BRICS, the second, Russian stage of the International socio-cultural program “BRICS Peoples Choose Life” is being implemented in Moscow, the Moscow, Tver and Samara regions, and the Altai Territory, which has been taking place in the BRICS countries since 2022 under the motto “From the ecology of the soul and bodies to the ecology of the world.”
The program started in the cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune of the Republic of India in December 2022 and covered more than 2,000 students and businessmen who became participants in the cultural, educational and business tracks of the Indian Program.
The Russian stage will be organized by the Regional Public Organization “BRICS. World of Traditions”, Moscow, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba, International Foundation for Improving the Education and Skills of Youth (IYES Foundation), Noida, India, Smart World Service company, Moscow.
The first participating region, after the capital, will be the Tver region, the city of Tver. The educational and business parts of the program will take place on June 24-30, 2024 and will be dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the journey and the memory of the Tver merchant Afanasy Nikitin, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of trade relations between Russia and India. It is symbolic that these days, near the monument to Afanasy Nikitin, the solemn event “Afanasy Nikitin: from the Volga to the Ganges” will take place with the participation of schoolchildren and students.
The humanitarian track of the program will take place in Tver educational institutions. The main event will begin on June 25 at 11:00 with a press conference at Tver State University with the participation of regional media. The exhibition “Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi: a unique heritage”, illustrating the famous correspondence of great humanists on the topic of non-violence, will be shown here, a presentation of projects from the Tver stage of the Program and a round table on the topic “Digital Society: Criteria, Opportunities, Risks”, a cultural program will be held.
Participants in the presentation of the Tver stage of the BRICS Youth Day at TvSU program on June 25 at 12:00 will include honored guests from Moscow, the Russian-Indian delegation, teachers and students of TvSU, representatives of regional universities, universities in India, Brazil and South Africa (online), friends and partners of our university.
During the educational events, a ceremony will be held to sign the Agreements with the BRICS ROO. World of Traditions” about cooperation in the “BRICS Peoples Choose Life” Program, including work to establish contacts between Tver and Mumbai educational institutions.
The humanitarian block of the program will end with the planting of an apple tree in honor of the Great BRICS teachers on the territory of the Botanical Garden of Tver State University (“Garden of the Soul”) and the release of white doves as a sign of friendship between peoples.
The honorary guests of the Tver stage of the program will be Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation K.I. Mogilevsky, Minister of Education of the Indian Embassy in Russia Mr. Subrata Das, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo D.V. Polikanov.
