An Ethiopian delegation led by Chief Government Whip Tesfaye Beljigie participated in the 2024 Interregional Workshop on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Parliaments of Developing Countries held in China.
The workshop, jointly organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the National People’s Congress, brought together parliamentary representatives from various developing countries to discuss strategies to improve SDG implementation through legislative cooperation.
The event highlighted Ethiopia’s successes in achieving the SDGs and emphasised the crucial role of parliament in these achievements. The Ethiopian delegation actively interacted with legislators from other countries to exchange ideas on strengthening parliamentary partnerships. This is reported by Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC), a partner of TV BRICS.
Beljigie also noted that China’s experience in poverty alleviation and economic development provides valuable lessons, calling on all participants to utilise these practices to accelerate Ethiopia’s journey to prosperity.
