Iran provides drinking water to 10,000 villages

Iran’s Water and Wastewater Company announced that drinking water has been supplied to 10,000 villages across the country in the past four years. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

The source also reported that 11 desalination plants have been put into operation in the country during the tenure of the current government. The official said that 81 per cent of the equipment and items used in the water sector are produced domestically.

Earlier, Iran’s Ministry of Energy had managed to provide drinking water by pipeline to many villages across the country since a major rural water supply programme was implemented. It was previously reported that some US$40 million was allocated for the programme, which eventually connected 10,000 villages across the country to the national water supply network.
