China Presents Zidingxiang Creative Design Award in Harbin

The Harbin Grand Theatre hosted the Zidingxiang (“Lilac”) Creative Design Award ceremony, bringing together the best designs from creators worldwide. This is reported by Dongbeiwang, a partner of TV BRICS.

The competition, held under the slogan “Creativity Brings People Together,” featured four categories: industrial design, digital design, visual design, and cultural design. Since its launch in July this year, the organisers have received over 4,600 submissions from various countries.

The top prize went to a project titled “Tunnel-boring complex,” recognised by the jury for its outstanding appearance and innovative design approach. The second prize was awarded to five projects, including a glass robot and a bale press. Eighteen designs received third prizes, while an additional 74 entries were honoured with Zidingxiang awards.

Additionally, the theatre foyer hosted an exhibition featuring 98 shortlisted designs displayed across a 1,000-square-metre space. The exhibition included six themed zones and two interactive platforms, showcasing achievements in creative design from Heilongjiang Province.

The event was supported by the World Design Organisation (WDO), whose president, Thomas Garvey, highly praised the participants’ projects.

“I was deeply impressed by the competition entries. China is an integral part of the global creative design industry,” he remarked.

According to the WDO president, Zidingxiang serves as a vital platform for global exchange and collaboration among designers. He also noted that China’s advanced technologies significantly influence global trends in sustainable design.
