The inaugural meeting of the Russia-India Joint Task Force on Combating Customs Violations was successfully held in New Delhi under the co-chairmanship of Igor Piskunov, Head of the Main Directorate for Combating Smuggling at the Federal Customs Service of Russia, and Mohan Kumar Singh, Deputy Chairman of India’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

During the meeting, the two sides charted a roadmap for enhanced bilateral cooperation in customs enforcement. Discussions centred on critical areas, including conducting joint operations, tackling drug smuggling, and addressing commercial fraud. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts to curb cross-border customs violations. This meeting marks a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between Russia and India, underlining their shared determination to enhance security and promote lawful trade practices.
