The play “Antonovki” is recognised as best production of festival “Your Chance | GITIS fest”

The best production of the International Festival of Student Plays “Your Chance | GITIS fest” was “Antonovki” by the Russian State Institute of Theatre Arts – a documentary fantasy based on letters and memoirs of contemporaries of writer Anton Chekhov (directed by Vitaly Lyubsky).

 

“Your Chance” is a joint project of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS and the Theatre Centre of the STD of the Russian Federation “On Strastnoy”, celebrated its twentieth anniversary with the cooperation and unification of programmes with “GITIS fest”. The joint event brought together theatre graduates from Belgrade (Serbia), Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Kostanay (Kazakhstan), Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, New Delhi (India), St. Petersburg, Saratov, Tambov, Shanghai (China), Yakutsk and Yaroslavl. The international media partner of the festival was TV BRICS.

 

Simone Pricoli de Mello, Head of the Centre for the Study of the Stanislavsky System at the Macunaíma Theatre School (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was a special guest of the Festival.

 

 

In the Theatre Centre of the STD of the Russian Federation “On Strastnoy” the performances were presented by the the Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theatre School, the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, the Moscow Art Theatre institute of higher education School-Studio named after V. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, the Russian Institute of Theatre Art – GITIS, the Russian State Institute of Theatre Arts and others.

 

Actors from the Russian Theatre in Belgrade, the Kostanay Russian Drama Theatre, the National School of Drama of India, the Derzhavin Tambov State University, the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts took to the stage of the GITIS Training Theatre.

 

In parallel with the theatre programme there was an exhibition of works by young theatre artists named after Oleg Sheintzis. Alexey Dubrovsky, the chief director of the Maly Theatre, chose the best work of the exposition – a model for Alexander Ostrovsky’s play “The Marriage of Balzaminov”. Maya Fedoseyeva, a student of the Faculty of Scenography of GITIS, who created it, received a diploma and a cash prize.

 

Master classes on acting, stage speech and stage movement by leading teachers of GITIS and other theatre schools were held for all festival participants.

 

GITIS is a partner of TV BRICS. The parties are implementing joint information projects that contribute to strengthening the positions of the BRICS+ countries in the sphere of culture and art around the world.
