By June 2024, residents of South African north-west region will be able to top up their batteries at a self-service station. Experts have confirmed that the work should be completed within the pre-agreed timeframe: “Specialised charging equipment has been procured and we are to finish by June 2024”.
The charging stations generate electricity on site using solar photovoltaic panels and store it in lithium-iron-phosphate batteries. Generators fuelled by hydrotreated vegetable oil are used as a backup power source.
Motorists can take advantage of a fast charging service. There are currently 720 DC ultra-fast charging points in operation. This is reported by Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.
Thus, the charge will be carried out in just 20 minutes.
