Russian House in New Delhi Hosts Groundbreaking Russia-India Pedagogical Exchange Event

The Russian House in New Delhi became a centre of educational innovation as it hosted a landmark event focused on enhancing pedagogical collaboration between Russia and India. The gathering, organised by the Russian Committee of the World Organisation for Preschool Education (OMEP), was designed to foster dialogue and partnership in early childhood education. Highlighting shared values of sustainable development and cultural preservation, the event brought educators together in a spirit of cooperation and learning.

The event was led by Dr. Larisa Shevchenko, President of the Russian OMEP Committee, who conducted an insightful workshop for Indian educators, sharing her expertise on sustainable education practices. During her presentation, Dr. Shevchenko invited participants to join OMEP’s international project, “Exploring Global Cultures through Pedagogical Exchange,” which encourages educators and students to engage deeply with diverse traditions. She underscored the transformative power of joint educational efforts, emphasising that cross-cultural partnerships like these can drive meaningful change in early childhood education and cultural understanding.

A key feature of the event was a masterclass led by Marina Yanvareva, Director of the Ladushki Kindergarten in Moscow. Yanvareva introduced participants to innovative painting techniques, seamlessly blending art with cultural education. Indian educators were captivated as they learned not only about the artistry behind traditional Russian crafts but also about Russia’s rich heritage through creative expression. Unique matryoshka dolls, crafted in a distinct Indian style, served as symbols of this cultural synergy, representing the fusion of Russian and Indian traditions and marking the beginning of what promises to be a vibrant partnership.

Project Manager Ekaterina Nasonova also shared success stories from the OMEP Committee’s cultural projects across various countries, offering Indian teachers practical insights and ideas for adapting these initiatives locally. Her examples of engaging children in traditional values through interactive games and creative projects sparked enthusiasm among the attendees, who were inspired to bring these approaches into their own classrooms. The Russian Committee of OMEP expressed deep gratitude to the Russian House for its steadfast support and partnership, which played an instrumental role in making the event a success. The committee is optimistic that the connections formed and insights shared during this gathering will lay the foundation for sustained collaboration in developing educational programmes and strengthening cultural ties between Russia and India.
