Saudi Arabia’s Museums and Heritage Commissions sign four key cultural agreements in China

Saudi Arabia’s Museums Commission and its Heritage Commission have signed four executive programmes with leading Chinese cultural institutions in Beijing as part of a broader effort to enhance cultural cooperation between the two nations. The signing took place at China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan in attendance.

The first agreement between Saudi Arabia’s Museums Commission and China’s museum will facilitate long-term loans of artworks and archaeological collections. This is reported by Arab News.

The second programme, signed with China’s museum, will establish a bilateral forum to foster cultural dialogue. Additionally, both nations agreed on the long-term exchange of artworks and archaeological collections, with plans to host the Saudi Musical Instruments Exhibition and the Kingdom’s Art Exhibition in China during 2025-2026.

A third agreement with China’s museum will focus on further cooperation regarding long-term loans of artwork and archaeological pieces, while the fourth programme, between the Heritage Commission and the Chinese Cultural Heritage Administration renews the license for excavation work at Saudi Arabia’s Al-Sereen archaeological site.

These agreements mark a significant step in strengthening cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and China, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of fostering international cultural exchange. The initiatives will pave the way for greater collaboration in the arts and heritage sectors, enhancing the Kingdom’s global cultural presence.
