Lavrov discusses BRICS co-operation with former South African Foreign Minister

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the former Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Lindiwe Sisulu in the Russian capital and discussed cooperation within the BRICS framework. This is reported by the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. “During the conversation they discussed topical issues of further strengthening of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and South Africa, including <…> deepening of foreign policy coordination within the BRICS, G20 and UN,” the foreign ministry said.

 

Lavrov and Sisulu also talked about developing ties between Russian and South African parties and between parliaments, as well as deepening trade, economic and humanitarian co-operation between the two states.

 

The South African socio-political figure travelled to Moscow to take part in the ceremony of awarding the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize as a member of the jury.
