Omsk State Technical University (OmGTU), renowned for its Advanced Engineering School (AES), has recently signed a groundbreaking cooperation agreement with the official representative of the Indian company TASA in Russia. This strategic partnership aims to bridge the gap in the domestic machine tool industry by training specialists equipped with the latest competencies in this vital field. The agreement outlines a robust academic exchange programme designed to bolster the expertise of both students and faculty. As part of this collaboration, Omsk Polytechnics students and their mentors will have the opportunity to undertake internships at cutting-edge industrial enterprises in India. This international experience will not only enhance their practical knowledge but also expose them to global industry standards, preparing them for the demands of modern engineering roles.
In addition to the exchange programme, a specialised mechanical engineering class will be established at OmGTU. This initiative aims to provide advanced training to engineers, further strengthening the university’s educational offerings. The programme’s organisers are optimistic that this will attract talented youth from India to pursue careers in the machine tool industry, fostering cross-cultural knowledge transfer and innovation.
“This agreement is a significant step forward in addressing the needs of our industrial partners for specialised metal-cutting machines. We are committed to training professionals who possess the unique skills required to operate this advanced equipment, thus contributing to the resolution of the workforce challenges faced by domestic enterprises,” stated Pavel Korchagin, Acting Rector of Omsk State Technical University. This collaboration represents a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to integrate Russian and Indian educational and industrial capabilities, setting a precedent for future initiatives that aim to enhance the global competitiveness of both nations’ engineering sectors.
