Tajikistan and Colombia hosted national competitions for the only prize in the world for contributions to the growth of street culture and sports, called KARDO, which is part of the presidential platform “Russia: the Country of Opportunities”.
The winners of the competitions were announced and will represent their country at the Grand Final in Stavropol, Russia, on August 22–25. TV BRICS is the international media partner for the award.
On July 17, Bogota, the capital of Colombia, hosted the qualifying stage of the KARDO Award in two areas: Breaking and Workout. More than 40 participants from all over the country came to the competitions in the Aguaviva Ecological Park.
According to the results of the competitions, the best athlete and dancer on the national stage of the International Award-Competition KARDO in Colombia were determined:
The Breaking winner – Breiner Mauricio;
The Workout winner – David Esteban.
On July 20, in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, the qualifying stage of the KARDO award was held in several directions: breaking, freestyle, hip-hop, and parkour. The competition at the Crocus Fitness Sports Centre attracted participants from across the country.
“I am absolutely glad that the national stage of the International Award-Competition KARDO was held in the Republic of Tajikistan. This event brought together more than 150 bright representatives of street culture and sports, who demonstrated their talents and inspired other participants and spectators. We hope that such events will contribute to the development of the creative potential of young people and the formation of a community of street culture and sports figures,” said Aleksey Agafonov, First Deputy Director General of Autonomous Non-profit Organisation (ANO) Russia – Country of Opportunities.
According to the results of the competition, the best athletes and dancers on the KARDO national stage in Tajikistan were announced:
The Breaking Footwork winner – Dorobshokhi Sadriddin;
The Breaking Toprock winner – Firdavs Juraev;
The Hip-Hop Beginners winner – Fotima Ashurova;
The Hip-Hop Pro winner – Sobir Tairov;
The Parkour Mid winner – Faromuz Huseynov;
The Parkour Pro winner – Sievushi Karimzoda;
The Freerunning Mid winner – Farrukh Yuldoshev.
In seven years, the project has grown significantly: in 2024, 10 national stages of the award will be held, with more than 1,000 street culture and sports figures taking part.
The organisers of the award in 2024 are ANO Russia: the Country of Opportunities, the All-Russian public organisation of street culture and sports “Streets of Russia,” the Government of the Stavropol Territory, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the Presidential Grants Fund, the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, and the North Caucasus Federal University.
