The 10th Ak Bars Bank Kazan Marathon took place in Kazan and attracted about 30,000 participants from 14 countries – about twice as many as in 2023. The competition was watched by 15,000 fans. TV BRICS was the international media partner of the event.
The competition programme included the Russian Marathon Championship, in which the leading athletes of the participating countries took part in the event.
On the first day, runners overcame distances of 3 and 10 kilometres. The Parade of Nations took place at the Trudovye Reserves stadium. On the last, second day, the start was given for the two main distances – half marathon (21.1 km) and marathon (42.2 km).
Aleksey Reunkov from Zlatoust (2:14:19) and Luiza Dmitrieva from St. Petersburg (2:31:15) were ahead of everyone in the 42.2 km race. The winners of the 21.1 km distance were Tatarstan’s Rinas Akhmadeev (1:04:35) and Anna Vikulova from Novosibirsk (1:09:54).
The Kazan Marathon is a member of the BRICS Marathon League, a project that unites the largest marathons in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan) and, in the near future, also Brazil, India, China, South Africa and other BRICS countries.
