According to National Treasury documents, spending on basic education is set to increase significantly to R316,5 billion (US$16,6 billion) in 2024/25 and R331,2 billion (US$17,4 billion) in 2025/26. The majority of the funding will go towards employee remuneration. Additional funds will also be allocated to basic education compensation, the national school feeding programme and the development of the early childhood development sector. This is reported by official website of South African government.
In the case of higher education, the higher education department is expected to increase spending on the national student financial assistance programme, subsidies to universities and colleges of technical and vocational education. Sports, arts and culture will also receive financial support to support sports in schools and the development of cultural heritage.
