TV BRICS will premiere the documentary film “Worthy of Applause: New Roles for BRICS+ Actors”, authored by Anatoly Kharitonov. The project is dedicated to the InteRussia fellowship programme organised for foreign artists by the International Media Network and the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts GITIS. The 26-minute film will be aired on TV BRICS on 5 November 2024 at 11.00, 15.30 and 21.00 hours Moscow time (rerun on 10 November at 15.00 and 21.00 hours). The film will be subsequently adapted into English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.
The film tells how actors from the BRICS+ countries spent a month, from 26 August to 22 September 2024, learning the basics of Russian stage art, attending lectures and master classes by teachers from GITIS, one of the world’s largest theatre universities.
“The documentary ‘Worthy of Applause: New Roles for BRICS+ Actors’ is not just a reporting project about the fellowship, it is an immersion into a unique experience of cultural exchange between different theatre schools, different countries. The film will tell the audience how the traditions of Russian theatre resonated in the hearts of actors from Brazil, India, Argentina, South Africa, Iran and China. This is a story about how art helps people to understand each other. Studying with the best teachers at GITIS has opened up new career opportunities for artists from BRICS+ countries”
