Abu Dhabi has begun operating new environmentally friendly buses fuelled by hydrogen and electricity. The move is part of the Green Buses programme, which aims to make Abu Dhabi a green public transport zone by 2030. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS. The Green Buses programme involves evaluating and implementing hydrogen and electricity technologies and solutions in Abu Dhabi’s public transport system.
The programme provides training for drivers and technicians, as well as on-site support services. By 2030, carbon dioxide emissions from public transport in Abu Dhabi are expected to be reduced by more than 100,000 metric tonnes. The Green Buses Programme is an example of successful collaboration between public and private organisations and highlights Abu Dhabi’s commitment to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement and efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
