Russia needs an accelerated build-up of its railway infrastructure, including the development of seamless railway connections from the Baltic Sea and the Barents Sea to the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. This was reported by the official website of the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Our agenda includes the construction of high-speed highways in connection with the Central Transport Hub, the creation of international logistics corridors, the development of the Azov-Black Sea transport direction, the organisation of the so-called seamless railway communication from the Baltic and Barents Sea to the coast of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean”

The development of the industry should be carried out “at a new technological level” based on the needs of the future, creating a reserve “for decades ahead,” the president said. Now the railway workers are facing the task of further modernisation of BAM and Transsib. These highways, Putin pointed out, should work in conjunction with the Northern Sea Route (NSR).
Such tasks will be realised thanks to the knowledge, experience and focus on results of the industry’s employees, the President stated. He also thanked all railway workers for their hard work and dedication.
