Ethiopia earned US$7.5 million from the export of 8,400 tonnes of spices in the last 11 months of the current fiscal year, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority said.
In addition to coffee, the Authority is focusing on increasing the production and marketing of spices and tea to boost the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority Director General Adunga Debela said Ethiopia produces more than 50 varieties of spices, 16 of which are exported to the world market.
Compared to the same period last year, spice exports have increased by 2,000 tonnes. This is reported by ENA.
