Business cluster for food security is established in UAE

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIO) have entered into an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government to simplify permitting for the food and water industry. This was reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of the TV BRICS network.

The agreements reached are necessary for the operation of the innovation cluster created by ADDED and ADIO, which will specialise in food security. It will be used to develop new food products and ingredients, as well as technologies that will increase access to and efficient use of water resources.

The cluster is designed to support local suppliers and exporters. Among its goals are to reduce pressure on agricultural systems, address nutritional challenges, and support global food security.

ADDED, ADIO and their partners intend to actively promote research and development activities. The development of laboratories and facilities is expected to bring new products and services to market quickly, while supporting the integration of companies into global value chains.
