Tehran will expand relations with New Delhi in BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) formats. This was announced by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a meeting with Indian Minister for Port Infrastructure, Shipping and Inland Waterways Development Sarbananda Sonowal.
“Our approach to relations with India is strategic and we are ready to expand our cooperation with India bilaterally and multilaterally as well as within the BRICS and SCO frameworks,” Amir-Abdollahian said.
The Iranian diplomatic chief described the signing of the agreement with India on the development and operation of Iran’s Chabahar port as ‘an opportunity to expand trade cooperation between the two countries’ and said Tehran will contribute in every possible way to the fulfilment of the terms of the agreement. This is reported by IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Amir-Abdollahian, explaining that the Islamic Republic of Iran regards India as a reliable partner, emphasised the importance of establishing strong relations with India.
