The documentary “Magadan Silver” by TV BRICS was included in the long-list of the VIII All-Russian Open Television Competition “Federation”. The project qualifies for awards in the “Regional Brand” category. In total, the jury selected 14 best works about people, discoveries, achievements and productions that form the image of the region and influence its attractiveness. Together with TV BRICS, the nominees included TV channels from Central Russia, the Volga region, the North Caucasus, Kuban, the Urals, Siberia and the Far East.
“The film “Magadan Silver” tells how people live and work in the region and how the amazing natural world of the Far North and the mining industry coexist in a balanced way. The Magadan region has the largest silver deposit in Russia and the third largest in the world. Using this example, we showed both the romance of working professions and the industrial potential of the Far East, which has been declared a strategic priority of the country for the whole XXI century”
The 25-minute documentary “Magadan Silver” was produced in 2023. The production team included – journalist Ksenia Komissarova, cameraman Dmitry Golovko, director Andrey Porshnyak, editor Konstantin Vereschagin, designer Natalya Tereschenko, sound engineer Nikolay Ivanov. The Russian premiere of the film took place in February 2023 on TV BRICS. The film was subsequently adapted into English, Chinese, Spanish and screened by media network partners in South Africa, Kenya, India and the PRC.
“Magadan Silver” is the third film in the series about the mining industry of the Far East. Previously, the TV BRICS team filmed the projects “Gold” and “More Precious than Gold” in Khabarovsk Krai, and the fourth was “The Golden Coast of the Arctic”, dedicated to Chukotka.
In 2023 the film “Magadan Silver” received a special prize at the III International Film Festival “Territory of People’s Unity” in Arkhangelsk. The summing up of the results of the VIII All-Russian TV contest “Federation” will take place in 2024. Winners will be announced in six categories. The competition is held annually with the support of the Federation Council, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation.
