The programme supports local fashion designers by developing their skills and giving them the opportunity to see their collections on the world’s catwalks.
The Durban Fashion Fair was created for experts and those interested in the fashion industry. As part of it, the South African city’s talents take part in master classes, competitions, debates and other events. Such initiatives allow local talent to be supported and the community subsequently wears Durban-made garments imbued with an African aesthetic. This is reported by DUrbanTV, a partner of TV BRICS.
More than 324 local designers have benefited from the mentors and industry support structures provided by the Durban Fashion Fair since its inception in 2009.
