South African performer wins the Grammy Award

South African Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa congratulated South African performer Tyla Laura Seethal, known as Tyla, on winning her first Grammy Award.

Tyla won the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance at the 66th annual awards ceremony. This is reported by Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS,

“Tyla’s win at the Grammy Awards further confirms her status as a global superstar. Her meteoric success is truly inspiring and there is much more to come. She is an ambassador for South African arts and culture. “I congratulate Tyla on her historic Grammy Award win, which came even before she released her first full-length album,” the minister said.

Trevor Noah hosted the ceremony for the fourth time and was nominated for Best Comedy Album. The band Just 6 was nominated in the Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella category, while Musa Keys was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category.

The Recording Academy has added three new Grammy nominations in 2024: The Best African Music Performance, The Best Alternative Jazz Album, and The Best Pop Dance Recording.
