Diplomats from the Russian Embassy in India took part in the virtual inauguration of the Camp for Young Translators, India — an innovative educational programme aimed at fostering literary translation skills from Russian into Hindi among university students. The initiative underscores the growing cultural and educational ties between Russia and India, focusing on enhancing linguistic exchange and cross-cultural understanding.
The programme offers students a unique opportunity to delve into the art of literary translation, guided by experts from both nations. This initiative is organised by the Association of Translators-Interpreters of Indian Rusists, in collaboration with the Institute of Literary Translation, Dom Tvorchestva (House of Creativity) “Peredelkino,” and India’s prestigious literary institution, Sahitya Akademi.
A Gateway to Literary Excellence
The most promising participants will be invited to visit the creative residence in Peredelkino, Moscow — a renowned hub for literary talent — where they will have the opportunity to further refine their skills. Additionally, select winners will be given the honour of having their translations published in India, marking a significant step in their careers as literary translators.
The camp is not only a platform for academic growth but also a bridge between Russian and Indian literary cultures, enabling young translators to contribute meaningfully to the rich tapestry of Indo-Russian relations.
