The Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre (JNCC), a key cultural wing of the Embassy of India in Moscow, proudly hosted Hindi Diwas at the prestigious D.P. Dhar Hall. This annual event is a celebration of the Hindi language, which holds a significant place in Indian culture and identity. The event attracted a diverse audience, including Embassy officials, Indian diaspora members, and Russian friends of India, fostering a sense of linguistic pride and cross-cultural engagement.
The programme featured a series of activities designed to promote the use and appreciation of Hindi. Embassy staff and officials enthusiastically participated in competitions such as Hindi noting and drafting, Hindi essay-writing, a Hindi quiz, and poetry recitation. These activities showcased the participants’ proficiency and creative expression in the Hindi language, further promoting its importance as one of India’s official languages. The event culminated in a grand prize distribution ceremony, graced by the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Nikhilesh Giri, and special guest, renowned Indian film actor, Mr. Vivek Oberoi. Their presence added a layer of prestige to the occasion, recognising the participants’ dedication and passion for Hindi.
The competitions were judged by an esteemed panel comprising Ms. Alpana Dash, Ms. Pragati Tipnis, Mr. Ajay Sahu, and Mr. Arvind Saran, who brought their extensive expertise in Hindi literature and language to evaluate the participants’ performances. Hindi Diwas serves as a reminder of the cultural richness of India and the vital role that language plays in uniting people across regions and countries. It further strengthens the cultural ties between India and Russia, fostering a deeper understanding of India’s linguistic and literary traditions.
