For its own 50th anniversary, one of the largest Tollywood studios, Vyjayanthi Movies, plans to release a high-tech fantasy epic, which should demonstrate to the whole world the new face of modern Indian cinema.

On June 27, the most expensive project in the history of Indian cinema will be released in Russian cinemas – the fantastic adventure film “Kalki, 2898 AD”.

The budget of the film exceeds $72 million, for comparison, the budget of the Oscar-winning Indian film RRR: The Revolution Roars Next Is $69 million.

The plot is a sci-fi retelling of the Hindu myth of Kalki (a modern avatar of the god Vishnu) and Kali Yuga (a special time cycle). According to legend, at the end of the current era, the modern god Vishnu will descend to earth to protect the world from evil forces.

The epic film will impress not only with famous actors, but also with cool visuals and a large number of fight scenes.

The film was created for an international audience, which explains such a high budget.

The debut teaser was presented at Comic-Con in San Diego (USA) last year. The picture was the first Indian film to participate in Comic-Con on such a scale.

At the official launch of the film “Kalki, 2898 AD” in Mumbai, director and screenwriter Nag Ashwin revealed that the plot takes place in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world with limited resources, where one city, Kasi, remains. Wealthy people live in luxury in the Complex, a massive metropolis in the shape of an inverted pyramid that towers over Kasi. Those on the outside are facing harsh realities.

A hidden haven, Shambhala, offers a haven for people from all cultures and religions. In Hindu mythology, Kalki is the 10th and final incarnation of the god Vishnu, who appears to end Kali Yuga, the darkest period in human history.

According to the plot of the film “Kalki, 2898 AD”, Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwatthama, an immortal character from the ancient Indian epic Mahabharata. Kamal Haasan plays the antagonist, Supreme Yaskin. Deepika Padukone plays a character named Sumati (a fertile laboratory subject). Prabhas plays the main character, the “bounty hunter” Bhairava.

The production process of “Kalki, 2898 AD” included the use of advanced visual effects and computer graphics technologies. Work on the film was carried out at the best studios, which made it possible to achieve high standards of quality and realism.
