Bolivia explores strategic co-operation with China in the field of lithium

Official sources from Bolivia’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy said that the expertise and technologies developed by China in the field of lithium industrialisation represent a significant opportunity for increased cooperation between the two countries.

The ministry’s spokesman, Diego Ayala, said China’s technological advances are important for the lithium industrialisation project.

Ayala emphasised that strategic cooperation with China can significantly contribute to the development of the lithium industry in Bolivia, bringing economic and technological benefits.

He also noted the importance of Bolivian experts participating in the workshop to identify the strengths and weaknesses of lithium industry development in the country. This is reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

Ayala also mentioned that the shift to cleaner energy sources emphasises China’s role as a world leader in investing in mining and technology development.

The expert recalled that Bolivia has the largest lithium reserves in the world, and therefore the possibility of co-operation with Chinese companies in this field could significantly improve the development of the industry.
