Ethiopia is determined to improve working conditions

Ethiopia’s Minister of Labour and Skills, Muferihat Kamil, has expressed the country’s commitment to continue improving working conditions, ensuring workplace safety and protecting workers’ rights.

The 49th anniversary of International Labour Day was celebrated in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa with the participation of the labour minister, trade unions and other government representatives.

Muferihat stressed that efforts will continue to protect the rights and interests of workers and ensure their safety. New systems developed through research to meet the needs of workers are being introduced.

The Minister also announced reforms to better protect workers’ rights and expressed the importance of ensuring that workers are properly qualified at all levels. This is reported by ENA.

President of Confederation of Ethiopian Labour Unions Kasahun Follo expressed appreciation for the joint efforts with the government in protecting the rights and interests of workers and also noted the importance of increasing industrial productivity.
