Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, Minister of Electricity of the Republic of South Africa, guarantees that the government’s action plan and the power company’s capacity restoration are to blame for the stability of the country’s electrical system. This was reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

Kgosientsho Ramokgopa gave the assurance that the national state-owned electrical provider’s “exceptional” work is mostly to blame for the current success. The minister went on to say that there had been “phenomenal improvements in the unplanned power loss ratio” during the previous week.

“We are starting to see the desired improvement,” he said.

We were at roughly 18,000 megawatts (MW) last March, he continued, and we are cutting them. For the week of April 8–12, we had an average of roughly 13,900 MW.

“We want to maintain this level of unplanned losses, even reducing them to less than 13,000 MW, but this depends on sustained, organised, and focused efforts on the part of the power companies,” Ramokgopa stated.

Though he acknowledged that there has been progress, the emphasis is still on what needs to be done.
