Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yahaya Lawal, has said that relations between the two countries are developing “excellently, especially at the political level”.
The diplomat recalled that during his tenure as ambassador, two Nigerian presidents – the current Bola Tinubu and his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari – had visited Saudi Arabia for talks. The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, also visited Nigeria in 2021 to hold talks with his counterpart, Geoffrey Onyeama.
According to the ambassador, the Nigeria-Saudi Arabia Joint Commission meetings held in Abuja and Riyadh demonstrated the immense importance of bilateral co-operation for both countries. Trade has become a key element of the nations’ relationship and Nigeria is keen to continue to sustain this trend. This is reported by Arab News. Lawal disclosed that the Joint Commission provided a framework for political, economic, technological and labour cooperation between the countries.
