The 10th official film festival will be held in Saudi Arabia from 2 to 9 May this year. The King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture has been chosen as the venue for the event. This is reported by Arab News.
The main theme of the film festival will be science fiction and special attention will be paid to Indian cinema. In total, the works of around 800 contestants will be showcased.
“This event is fast developing into a must-attend festival across the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) film community. This year’s 10th edition is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet,” commented festival director Ahmed Al-Mulla.
He added that such an event will allow Saudi Arabian filmmakers to embrace global trends in visual storytelling.
This year’s Indian Cinema programme will feature independent films from outside Bollywood. There will be hands-on masterclasses and cultural workshops, as well as activities for children.
