TV BRICS to assist in building positive image of the Republic of Belarus abroad

The Republic of Belarus, which plans to join BRICS as a partner, has joined the information cooperation with foreign countries through the TV BRICS International Media Network. The largest news agency, BelTA, will be the first in the country to start working with the media network. The agreement on joint activities was signed by Irina Akulovich, Director General of the Republican Unitary Enterprise Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA), and Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS International Media Network.

The partners will mainly cooperate in the sphere of content exchange. With the assistance of TV BRICS, Belarus will have access to up-to-date information about the BRICS countries’ activities from the media sources and will be able to promote its own agenda more actively on foreign media resources. The Republic of Belarus became the 23rd country to join the interaction with TV BRICS and strengthen information cooperation between BRICS and the Eurasian Economic Union. Earlier, the media network established partnership relations with a number of media outlets in Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Russia, which together with Belarus are members of the EAEU.

BelTA, the largest news agency in Belarus and the main source of official information in the country, was founded in 1918. The BelTA newswire carries about 300 reports on the political, socio-economic, cultural, and sporting life of Belarus and over 120 photos and videos every day. Information is disseminated in seven languages: Belarusian, Russian, English, Spanish, Chinese, Polish, and German. BelTA has correspondent offices and its own correspondents in all regional centres of Belarus and Moscow and cooperates with 30 foreign news agencies and publications. BelTA news about the most important events in Belarus is transmitted online through the channels of the Association of National News Agencies of the CIS member states. BelTA maintains the official website of the Republic of Belarus, which is available in four languages and is one of the leading resources about the country in the world search engines. It publishes and distributes the newspaper 7 Days, the magazines Belaruskaya Dumka, Ekonomika Belarusa, and the Information Bulletin of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
